155 East 26th Street | Kips Bay, New York | 1880s
Located in the Kips Bay neighborhood of New York City, this building was constructed in the 1880s and features typical Italianate ornaments such as decorative cast iron lintels and sills. A long-missing cornice and deteriorated paint have impacted the historic and material integrity of the building. Kamen Tall Architects was hired to upgrade the street elevations through repair and restoration work, including but not limited to: stabilization of the parapet; stripping, pointing and repair of the face brick; painting of the lintels and sills; and improvement of the storefronts/tenant entry at the base of the building. Construction was completed in Fall, 2016.
