Melissa Doherty

Ms. Doherty has a background in historic preservation and architectural history, with experience in historical research, surveying, documentation, conditions assessments, and the application of federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. During her undergraduate studies, she discovered her love for historic preservation, exploring courses in architectural history and interning for community preservation organizations, as well as a preservation consulting firm. She worked at the NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission for four years, where she gained experience overseeing the preservation of thousands of designated NYC landmarks, and provided technical guidance to applicants and owners. Her specialties included religious properties, Columbia University properties, and the Douglaston Historic District. At Kamen Tall Architects, Ms. Doherty’s responsibilities include conditions assessments, field surveys, forensic investigation, the creation of construction documents, and project administration
