Scott Kamen, R.A.

Scott Kamen, R.A., AIA, is the Principal at Kamen Tall Architects, which he co-founded in 2010.

As Principal, Scott is passionate about leading his small, specialized team of architects and historic preservationists. Unlike with larger firms, he is directly involved in the projects. Scott is an expert at problem-solving and guides the team to adapt their projects and methods as needed. His hands-on approach focuses on client communication and flexibility. Scott takes pride in all of his work and ensures that the same amount of care and attention is given to each project.

Scott has forty-years of experience in architecture.  As an architect, Scott has worked with a wide range of buildings from historic and significant to high rises and new construction.  He is skilled in building forensics, working with owners’ budgets using phased repair plans, and is an expert in managing highly complex projects.  With his varied experience, he has established a broad knowledge base of building systems and construction methodologies.

Scott’s background includes the design and management of projects for such agencies as the Housing Authority, Metro North, SUNY, and the School Construction Authority.  He also designed and developed several prototype modular buildings throughout the United States for one of the country’s largest hospitality service providers.

Scott just received his SPRAT Level 1 Rope Access Technician Certification to further develop KTA’s rope access and survey program.  He believes that learning opportunities and developing skills to adapt to new technologies, ideas, and efficiencies in architecture and restoration is crucial for future growth and success.
